Florence takes loss despite strong efforts from Ryken Blouir and Logan Stenson

Recap: Florence Gophers vs. Astoria Fishermen

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-47, which was the final score in Florence's's tilt against Astoria on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 173rd in Arizona, while Astoria is ranked 22nd in Oregon).

Florence's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan Stenson, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds, and Ryken Blouir who scored seven points along with five rebounds. Blouir also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Bradeen, who scored six points.

Florence has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Astoria, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Florence won't have much time to rest: their next game is against San Tan Foothills at 10:00 a.m. on December 20th.
