Baseball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

If Central was riding high fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Crystal Lake Central on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rockets fell just short of the Crystal Lake South Gators by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 last Wednesday.

Liam Schultz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Zane Pollack was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Central dropped their record down to 9-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Crystal Lake South, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will take on Crystal Lake Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Crystal Lake South, they will face off against Hampshire at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Whip-Purs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
