Volleyball Game Preview: Collegiate Spartans vs. Clearwater Indians

The Collegiate Spartans will head out to face off against the Clearwater Indians on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Collegiate didn't have quite enough to beat Buhler and fell 2-1. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Crusaders 25-16 in the first set.

Collegiate started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-11, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Collegiate had strong showings from Khloie Villagomez, who had 13 digs and one assist, and Sophia Timme, who had 11 digs.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Clearwater and Trinity Academy meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Indians took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

While Clearwater was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-20.

Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Clearwater, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16-3.

Collegiate couldn't quite get it done against Clearwater in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
