Softball Recap: Uwharrie Charter Academy Has No Trouble Against Chatham Central

Uwharrie Charter Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Chatham Central Bears with a sharp 15-7 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Peyton Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Ryley Thompson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emory Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Uwharrie Charter Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's record is now 8-5. As for Chatham Central, they moved to 10-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
