Basketball Recap: Somerset Comes Up Short

Somerset was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Central Cambria Red Devils, falling 74-47. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while the Red Devils are ranked 180th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deacon Sherbine, who went 9 for 21 on his way to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Sherbine a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Roby, who posted 15 points.

It was another big night for Grady Snyder, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards for Central Cambria. The contest was Snyder's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Brayden Swope was another key player, going 7 of 17 en route to 17 points and six assists.

Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Central Cambria, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Bedford the next time they take the court. Somerset will head out to face Bedford at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Central Cambria will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
