Softball Recap: Katella Wins Going Away Against Westminster

Katella had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Westminster on Thursday. Katella blew past Westminster 9-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Dani Neville was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazlyn Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Pittington, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

The victory got Katella back to even at 3-3. As for Westminster, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coincidentally, Katella and Westminster will both be playing Artesia the next time they take the field. Katella will host Artesia at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Westminster will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
