Baseball Recap: Kingston Gets the Win

While Kingston's win against Newburgh Free Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers skirted past the Goldbacks 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Goldbacks: they've now won three in a row.

Kingston got a great performance from Jack Purvis as he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Travis Fryling was excellent, earning one run and four stolen bases. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Max Freese was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Kingston's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Newburgh Free Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kingston will challenge Middletown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Newburgh Free Academy, they will take on Monroe-Woodbury at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Goldbacks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
