Baseball Recap: Althoff Catholic Wins Going Away Against Maryville Christian

While Althoff Catholic put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Maryville Christian. The Crusaders blew past the Lions 17-0. The match marked the Crusaders' most dominant victory of the season.

Alec Underwood looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Zimmer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Winkeler, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Althoff Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Althoff Catholic and bumps their season record up to 12-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Maryville Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Althoff Catholic will head out on the road to square off against Roxana at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Maryville Christian will be paying especially close attention to the Crusaders' contest: after the Crusaders face off against the Shells, they'll take on Maryville Christian again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
