Baseball Recap: Trona Comes Up Short

Trona couldn't beat Immanuel Christian on Tuesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the first inning. The Tornadoes lost 21-9 to the Crusaders. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Johnny Meraz and Seth MacLean did some serious damage despite the final result: Meraz got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while MacLean went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Stephens, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Trona dropped their record down to 0-5-1 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Immanuel Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Trona will head out to face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Immanuel Christian, they will host Lee Vining at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
