Baseball Recap: Brewbaker Tech Beats Bullock County for Their Third Straight Win

Brewbaker Tech had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Bullock County Hornets 11-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-2 on Tuesday.

Tanner Thornton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple. He has become a key player for Brewbaker Tech: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Josh Mitchell Jr. was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Brewbaker Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Brewbaker Tech pushed their record up to 6-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing eight strikeouts in those games compared to only 2.81 in the others. As for Bullock County, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brewbaker Tech will face off against Carver Montgomery at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bullock County, they will take on Pike County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
