Baseball Game Preview: Belpre Golden Eagles vs. Waterford Wildcats

The Belpre Golden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Waterford Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Belpre is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Southern hit Belpre with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Tornadoes, falling 10-2.

Belpre saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrik Mclaughlin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waterford). Everything went their way against Federal Hocking on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-0 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Belpre's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Waterford, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Belpre couldn't quite get it done against Waterford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
