Basketball Game Preview: Vanlue Wildcats vs. Pandora-Gilboa Rockets

Vanlue and Pandora-Gilboa are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Vanlue Wildcats will welcome the Pandora-Gilboa Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Vanlue is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of North Baltimore by a score of 61-59 last Saturday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Vanlue got top-tier performance from Olivia Secord, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. Secord is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. Adrienne Phillips was another key player, going 6 for 14 on her way to 23 points.

Secord wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Vanlue was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pandora-Gilboa ended up a good deal behind Liberty-Benton on Monday and lost 51-35. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Eagles are ranked 181st).

Pandora-Gilboa's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Vanlue, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
