Baseball Game Preview: Ripon Indians vs. Ripon Christian Knights

For the second straight game, Ripon will face off against Ripon Christian. The Indians will welcome the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Ripon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Ripon Christian on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

For Ripon Christian's part, Mateo Ceja tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Ceja also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Knights are 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Stadtler Postma was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Ripon Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Noah DeBruyn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Ripon's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Ripon Christian, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ripon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ripon Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
