Softball Recap: Navarre Takes Down Horizon in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Navarre rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Horizon Hawks with a sharp 13-4 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Renee Hester, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Karsyn Riddle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Navarre is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7.

Looking ahead, Navarre will take on Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
