Football Recap: Mcdonogh Starts Season with Win at Home

McDonogh gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 48-6 victory over the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Crusaders are ranked 25th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

McDonogh had a senior duo take command as Mason Graham rushed for 57 yards and two TDs and Braeden Palazzo rushed for 28 yards and one score.

McDonogh didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nick Abrams Ii and Caden Cashman. Abrams Ii got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, McDonogh will take on St. Anthony's at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverdale Baptist, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Long Island Lutheran on September 27.
