Football Recap: Mcdonogh Starts Season with Win Against Riverdale Baptist

McDonogh took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-6 victory over the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.

Leading McDonogh to victory were Mason Graham and Braeden Palazzo. Graham rushed for 57 yards and two scores, while Palazzo rushed for 28 yards and one TD. Those 28 rushing yards gave Palazzo a new career-high.

McDonogh didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caden Cashman and Nick Abrams II. Cashman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, McDonogh will face off against St. Anthony's at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverdale Baptist, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Long Island Lutheran on September 27.
