Granite Hills and El Capitan are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will challenge the Vaqueros at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Granite Hills blew Olympian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Olympian got their revenge. Granite Hills fell just short of Olympian by a score of 6-4. Granite Hills has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Taylor Nash was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Nash wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaleigh Baugher, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, El Capitan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They skirted past the Foothillers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vaqueros have posted since March 18th.

Addison Higuera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Kylee Frazier was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Ciara Bernardini was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Granite Hills' loss dropped their record down to 6-13-1. As for El Capitan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

Granite Hills took their win against El Capitan when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
