Football Recap: Southwest Has No Trouble Against Arthur County

Southwest hadn't done well against Arthur County recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 42-18 margin over the Wolves. For the Roughriders, this counts as revenge for the 40-28 win the Wolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Houston Billeter was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 288 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 30 yards.

Although Arthur County took the loss, they still got scores from Colton Pilakowski and Jaycen Hanna.

Southwest has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 55.5 points this season. As for Arthur County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest will venture away from home to challenge South Platte at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arthur County, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Minatare at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. The match will give the Wolves their first taste of in-conference action this season.
