Baseball Recap: Lumberton Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lumberton dropped their record down to 21-8-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Liberty Panthers by a score of 4-3. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 9-3 to the Panthers when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lumberton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Steininger, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Liberty's side, Casper Eckols made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, Eckols posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run.

Lumberton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will welcome Kirbyville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
