Football Game Preview: Wallkill Panthers vs. Roosevelt Presidents

The Wallkill Panthers will square off against the Roosevelt Presidents at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Wallkill and four for Roosevelt.

Wallkill is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers came up short against the Warriors, falling 50-30. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Despite their loss, Wallkill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jj Detz, who threw for 226 yards and three TDs, was perhaps the best of all. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Ayden Larue, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt took a blow against Minisink Valley on Friday, falling 49-6. While losing is never fun, the Presidents can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Warriors are ranked 60th).

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Wallkill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Wallkill against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in September of 2019, as the team secured a 55-7 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Presidents have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
