The O'Neal School had to settle for second on Thursday, but Jake Shepherd sure wasn't going down easily. Shepherd wasn't messing around, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). The pitching appearance was his fourth straight with one or fewer walks.

Shepherd and The O'Neal School will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Moore at 4:00 p.m. on April 9.
