Preview: Canastota Red Raiders vs. Skaneateles Lakers
Canastota is 0-4 against Skaneateles since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Canastota Red Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Skaneateles Lakers at 6:30 p.m. Canastota is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-12, which was the final score in Canastota's tilt against Solvay on Friday. While losing is never fun, Canastota can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Solvay is ranked 172nd).
Meanwhile, everything went Skaneateles' way against Marcellus on Friday as Skaneateles made off with a 42-21 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Skaneateles.
Skaneateles can attribute much of their success to Domnick Caraccio, who rushed for 71 yards and three touchdowns, and Torin Bennett, who rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Skaneateles' victory pushed their record up to 4-2, while Canastota's defeat dropped theirs down to 2-4.
Canastota came up short against Skaneateles when the teams last played back in September of 2022, falling 20-12. Can Canastota avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
