Ashton Tolen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jude Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sullivan came out on top against Cerro Gordo/Bement on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Redskins took their contest against the Broncos 7-3. The victory continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won six in a row.
J'Nai Webb made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Webb wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Stinson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Stinson has posted since back in April.
Sullivan pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Cumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Sullivan's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cumberland has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Sullivan, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Cumberland's sizable advantage in that area, the Redskins will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cumberland might still be hurting after the 13-5 defeat they got from Sullivan in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
