Basketball Recap: Mikey Carlson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat White Cloud

Pentwater hadn't done well against White Cloud recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Pentwater Falcons secured a 55-49 W over the White Cloud Indians. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Indians are ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pentwater's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikey Carlson, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 23 points and three steals. The contest was Carlson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jonny Arnouts was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points along with eight assists and seven boards.

Pentwater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

Pentwater's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for White Cloud, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pentwater will challenge Mason County Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pentwater is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season. As for White Cloud, they will face off against Kent City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
