Stafford is 7-1 against Brazosport since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spartans will square off against the Exporters at 7:00 p.m. Stafford will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
On Friday, Stafford beat Navasota 47-38.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stafford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiden Seales, who picked up 174 receiving yards and three scores, and also rushed for 86 yards on only 11 carries. Seales has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise. Another passer making a difference was Nate Ray, who threw for 279 yards and four TDs on only 19 passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stafford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Stafford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Denim Steed and Jabrion Sonnier. Sonnier has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. Stafford received some extra help from Jakobe Butler, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Brazosport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 30-9 to Needville. While losing is never fun, the Exporters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 818th, while the Bluejays are ranked 300th).
Brazosport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Stafford, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Stafford has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 152.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brazosport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 153.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Stafford strolled past Brazosport when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 26-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
