Recap: Severance Silver Knights vs. Northridge Grizzlies
Even though the Severance Silver Knights have not done well against the Northridge Grizzlies recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Severance skirted past Northridge 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Severance has posted yet this season.
Attley Helzer was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ava Zink, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Northridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Savanna Amack, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Sophia Carbajal who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. Carbajal hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Beck, who scored 11 points.
Severance is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Severance will take on Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Roosevelt's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games. As for Northridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Frederick at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Frederick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
