Basketball Recap: Turner Takes a Loss

Turner has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 89-41 loss at the hands of the Lone Star Rangers. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.

Despite the defeat, Turner saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Matthew Stone posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Stone a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Austin Castro, who earned eight points.

Turner's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Lone Star, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Turner will venture away from home to challenge Reedy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lone Star, they will head out to take on Wakeland at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
