Recap: Veterans Warhawks vs. Tift County Blue Devils
The Veterans Warhawks''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 14-6 to Tift County. Despite 158 more yards than Tift County, Veterans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The team lost despite holding Tift County to a paltry 118 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Veterans' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kane Byrd and his two sacks.
Veterans has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Tift County, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Veterans will take on Northside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tift County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Houston County at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Houston County's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
