Softball Recap: Clovis Wildcats vs. Carlsbad Cavemen

Clovis extended their losing streak to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 3-19. They lost 14-4 to the Carlsbad Cavemen. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Cavemen this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-0 loss on Friday.

As for Carlsbad, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11. Considering they have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Carlsbad's part, Katrina Ortega made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ortega has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
