AA Region VII recap Sept. 26, 2012
Timberland suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 21-20 loss to Berkeley. The Wolves had been ranked 14th, but fell to 32 following the defeat.
Lake Marion made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,762 from 7,974. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 45-21 victory over the Gators last week.
Andrews's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ethan Wright threw for 17 yards and Cecil Murphy had 14 yards receiving. On the ground Wright chipped in 136 yards. Jaleel Filmore helped Andrews' passing attack out by catching three balls for three yards.
Lake Marion's Deriante Jenkins and Mike Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AA Region VII in both passing and receiving yards. Jenkins has thrown for 1341 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 26 catches for 676 yards. The Yellowjackets' Filmore leads the league in rushing yards with 560.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kingstree takes on Timberland. At the moment, the Jaguars are in fourth, while Arthur Craig's team is in first.
