Baseball Recap: Gilroy Comes Up Short

Gilroy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Lions. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Gilroy got a good showing from Ryan Smith, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The Mustangs are 2-1 when Smith allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-10 otherwise.

Gilroy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

While Gilroy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
