The Penns Manor Comets will face off against the United Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Penns Manor's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while United has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Penns Manor will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Portage, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Comets blew past the Mustangs 9-3 on Tuesday. Considering the Comets have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Allie Rhea was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Rhea was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Sydney Luther was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that she has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Rhea, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, United lost 14-2 to Northern Cambria on Wednesday.
Kenedi Fiochetta made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Mya Lichtenfels was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Penns Manor's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for United, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
United's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Penns Manor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. It's a different story for United, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Penns Manor's hitters?
Penns Manor beat United 6-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
