Softball Game Preview: Charlotte Latin Hawks vs. North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights

The Charlotte Latin Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Charlotte Latin will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Charlotte Latin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wesleyan Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Charlotte Latin blew past Wesleyan Christian Academy 11-0 on Friday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Sydney Thune was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Caroline Coble was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Irie King also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Charlotte Latin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .412 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for North Raleigh Christian Academy's offense. They lost 15-0 to Grace Christian on Friday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Charlotte Latin's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Charlotte Latin came up short against North Raleigh Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Charlotte Latin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
