Basketball Recap: Jal Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Johnna Butts and Mayrin Nieto

It was a proper cat-fight when Jal duked it out with Eunice on Friday. The Jal Panthers lost 62-39 to the Eunice Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-40 back in January.

Jal's loss came despite strong showings from Mayrin Nieto and Johnna Butts. Nieto dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards, while Butts posted 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Butts a new career-high in points.

Jal's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Eunice, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6.
