Baseball Game Preview: Western Hills Wolverines vs. Carroll County Panthers

The Western Hills Wolverines will face off against the Carroll County Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Western Hills is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games dating back to last season.

If Western Hills beats Carroll County with 13 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Western Hills put the hurt on Bath County with a sharp 13-3 victory on Friday. Fans of the Wolverines have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

The team relied heavily on Owen Woodson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Asher Gatewood, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Western Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Carroll County made easy work of Williamstown on Wednesday and carried off a 35-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Demons: they've now won six in a row.

The win got Carroll County back to even at 1-1. As for Western Hills, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Western Hills might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Carroll County when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can Western Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
