For the second straight game, Gloucester will face off against Woodside. The Dukes will host the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brayden Scott tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Grayson Shield was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Hayden Simmons was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Gloucester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodside only posted an OBP of .321.
Gloucester pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Woodside, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Gloucester's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Dukes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game.
