Softball Recap: Trinity Victorious

Trinity was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over the Fall River Bulldogs. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Jessica Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off eight hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Eva Ehlerding was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marley Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Trinity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .439. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Trinity's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-9. As for Fall River, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bulldogs beat Trinity by a score of 12-5 later that day.
