Softball Recap: Hampshire Comes Up Short

After flying high against East Hardy on Monday, Hampshire came back down to earth. The Trojans came up short against the Mountain Ridge Miners on Tuesday, falling 17-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Miners: they've now lost five in a row.

Hampshire saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Call, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another was Charly Ashton, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Hampshire's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Mountain Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Hampshire will challenge Frankfort at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mountain Ridge, they will take on Northern Garrett on Wednesday.
