Softball Game Preview: Knightdale Knights vs. East Wake Warriors

The Knightdale Knights will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the East Wake Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Knightdale is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 26-4 to Enloe.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, East Wake made sure to put some runs up on the board against Smithfield-Selma on Tuesday. East Wake's pitchers stepped up to hand Smithfield-Selma a 29-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.

Scarlett Avila-Cristobal and Madison Keith made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Avila-Cristobal tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Keith tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Avila-Cristobal scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Keith went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Avila-Cristobal snagged this season.

In other batting news, Alissa Flood was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Katelyn Smith was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

East Wake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .805. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Knightdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for East Wake, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Knightdale suffered a grim 22-0 defeat to East Wake in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can Knightdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
