Baseball Recap: Walnut Takes a Loss

Walnut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 8-4 to the Alcorn Central Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Alcorn Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Bearcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Baldwyn knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Walnut likes a good challenge. As for Alcorn Central, they will be playing at home against Corinth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
