Softball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Stallions vs. Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions

The Shadow Ridge Stallions will venture away from home to square off against the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Shadow Ridge nor Mountain Ridge posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Shadow Ridge is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Red Mountain just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to the Mountain Lions.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions came up short against the Eagles, falling 14-1. The game marked the Mountain Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mountain Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daisy Herrera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Shadow Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Mountain Ridge, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-4.

Shadow Ridge beat Mountain Ridge 9-6 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Mountain Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
