Football Recap: Antioch Gets the Win

The Antioch Panthers won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Nevada Union Miners 19-18. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

When it comes to explaining why Nevada Union lost on Friday, don't look at Rhyder Eelkema. Despite the final result, he rushed for 143 yards and one touchdown. Eelkema's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 131 rushing yards.

Antioch's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Nevada Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antioch will welcome Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Nevada Union, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Twelve Bridges at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Miners will need to watch out since the Raging Rhinos have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
