Volleyball Recap: Megan Helander Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Spencer County

Ballard won the last time they faced Spencer County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bruins blew past the Bears 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Ballard was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-7, 25-9.

Ballard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Megan Helander led the charge by getting 14 digs and three assists. Helander has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ruby Tennen, who had 12 assists and four aces.

Ballard was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Ballard's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Spencer County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
