Basketball Recap: Lake Country Christian Eagles vs. Pantego Christian Panthers
The Lake Country Christian Eagles had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Pantego Christian with a 54-49 victory on Friday. The victory was just what Lake Country Christian needed coming off of a 72-48 loss in their prior game.
Lake Country Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sean Benton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Benton also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Fagley, who scored ten points.
Pantego Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aj Brooks, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Brooks hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Tristan Brown was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Lake Country Christian's win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-24. As for Pantego Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.
Lake Country Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. High Point Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Pantego Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
