Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Oswego

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Oswego ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Lincoln-Way East Griffins 5-4. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jaelynn Anthony spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Oswego's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kiyah Chavez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

The victory (which was Oswego's fourth in a row) raised their record to 25-1. As for Lincoln-Way East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oswego will square off against Plainfield North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lincoln-Way East, they will challenge Lincoln-Way West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
