Football Game Preview: Navasota Rattlers vs. Almeta Crawford Chargers + How To Watch

The Navasota Rattlers will head out on the road to square off against the Almeta Crawford Chargers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Navasota knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Almeta Crawford likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Navasota took their contest with ease, bagging a 49-7 win over Brazosport. The Rattlers haven't had any issues with the Exporters recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Almeta Crawford over Stafford in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Chargers blew the Spartans out of the water with a 54-6 final score. With the Chargers ahead 33-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

A big part of Almeta Crawford's win came down to the chemistry between Braylen Fisher and his top target Alvin Mosley. Fisher threw for 277 yards and four TDs while Mosley gained 133 total yards and four touchdowns. Almeta Crawford also got a significant boost from Peyton Long, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

Almeta Crawford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Almeta Crawford's defense made their presence known, laying out Nate Ray 3.5 times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Shemar Walls and Khaidyn Hopson, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Walls was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making five total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Navasota's record is now 7-2. As for Almeta Crawford, their record now sits at 8-1.

Navasota beat Almeta Crawford 38-27 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rattlers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
