Thatcher skates past Catalina with ease

The Thatcher Eagles entered their tilt with the Catalina Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Thatcher blew past Catalina, posting a 74-6 win at home. That looming 74-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Thatcher yet this season.

Thatcher was led to victory by Cambria Wakefield and Jade Griffin. Wakefield scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Griffin scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Griffin is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Sophie Welker was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Thatcher's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Catalina, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thatcher the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. David at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. St. David presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Thatcher in Arizona (St. David is ranked 41st, while Thatcher is ranked 157th). As for Catalina, they will be playing at home against Tanque Verde at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tanque Verde is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
