Basketball Recap: Archbishop Bergan Falls Despite Big Games from Tessa Powers and Marisa Drake

If Archbishop Bergan was feeling good fresh off their 62-42 takedown of Osceola last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Archbishop Bergan Knights and the Sutton Mustangs didn't end well, with the Archbishop Bergan Knights falling 42-27. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Archbishop Bergan's loss on Monday came despite strong showings from Marisa Drake and Tessa Powers. Drake posted six points, while Powers earned six points and six rebounds.

Archbishop Bergan has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Sutton, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Archbishop Bergan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-55 victory against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on the 3rd. As for Sutton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-27 win against Archbishop Bergan/Fremont on the 30th.
