Softball Recap: Whitwell Comes Up Short

Whitwell lost against North Jackson back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Whitwell Tigers lost 17-8 to the North Jackson Chiefs. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Whitwell saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Grace Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Lindsay Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Whitwell now has a losing record of 2-3. As for North Jackson, they moved to 1-2 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Whitwell Tigers take on Hixson Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitwell has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for North Jackson, they will welcome Plainview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Plainview knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully North Jackson likes a good challenge.
