Recap: St. Michael's Crusaders vs. St. Joseph Flyers
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The St. Michael's Crusaders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over St. Joseph. The win was a breath of fresh air for St. Michael's as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading St. Michael's to victory were Diego Flores and Will Garcia. Flores rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown, while Garcia rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
St. Michael's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Leading the way was Ben Brophy and his 2.5 sacks.
St. Michael's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Michael's will face off against Regents at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Regents knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully St. Michael's likes a good challenge. As for St. Joseph, they will head out on the road to face off against Hyde Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
